I think Berlin is lower on the list than it should be. It's the capitol of Germany, is a cosmopolitan city and is a regional powerhouse. IMO it should be the highest ranked city in Germany. It strikes me as oddly as Washington DC being ranked the mid to lower tiered US cities.
US News And World Report rankings of national universities 2009
Boston
Harvard #1
MIT #4
Tufts #28
Brandeis #31
Boston College #34
Boston University #60
Northeastern #96
Chicago
Northwestern #12

Ohhh ahhhh.....
That's it!
What I would give to have what they are smoking.
Don't forget that Chicago has U of Illinois at Chicago which has Bill Ayers as a professor I agree with you Boston is the best city in the US for colleges.

How ignorant. The University of Chicago has more Nobel Peace prize winners than 99% of the countries on Earth. Certainly more than any Boston university...plus DePaul actually had the President of Lithuania graduate from their school in 2002. I was at the ceremony at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL.
For example, just the latest Nobel win for the University of Chicago. this one for this year, 2008:
Yoichiro Nambu of Enrico Fermi Institute, University of Chicago, Chicago, IL, USA won half of the prize for the discovery of the mechanism of spontaneous broken symmetry in subatomic physics.

I stand corrected. I glossed over U of C at number 8.
i'm just messing with you. i would never had said nothing if this Global report didn't come and rank chicago #2. obviously, i singled out boston because they are known as the Mecca for great universities. #2 woo hoo!
