1.Lot's of trash on the side of the roads, and all-around disregard for cleanliness.
2.Horrible, obnoxious, rude drivers. I've visited places with decent drivers, but have never lived in a place with decent drivers. Maybe one day....
3.Thuggish culture. Sometimes I feel like the only guy under 40 without tattoos and earrings and a closet full of 'wife-beater' shirts, and those ridiculous over-sized, sideways-wearing, "look at me, I'm pretending to be 12 years old" hats. Oh yeah, and my pants fit properly. Total fish out of water.
4. Crime. See above.
5. Excessive sprawl.

Other than that, I love it.

1) property taxes (state)
2) car centric (my specific town)
3) far removed from urban areas, a smidge too "boonie" for me (my specific town)
4) latent, simmering sense of entitlement among youth (specific area)
5) lack of good public transport

I don't know if you misspelled education on purpose, but it's pretty funny either way.

Anyway, my 5 worst things about living in East Tennessee:
  1. High air fares in/out of Knoxville's beautiful but small airport.
  2. Formerly tranquil mountain roads are now clogged with oglers who I guess have never seen mountains before (most seem to be from Florida and Indiana).
  3. Too many chain restaurants and not enough locally-owned, independent restaurants.
  4. Our tap water is pretty nasty.
  5. And finally, our local football team is sucking big time this year.

Eduacation?

You forgot the packs of ferocious dogs in every second backyard, mistreated barrio pit bulls, and oceans of beer bottles along the roadsides.

I think vegetarian outsiders are the least important of issues facing NM.
