Depends on if you view it based on where the border was when they moved here or where it is presently. Language/culture probably is good litmus test for that. When my grandfather died and the obit said Poland it **ssed me off. I said, He's German, not Polish. No offense to my Polish friends.
Based on where the border was: German-East Prussian and a Berliner. If you used current borders: Russian and a Berliner. No Russian spoken in our house.

France.. my father born and raised in Belfort... one aunt in uncle live in the Swiss Alps and the rest of my father's side live in Paris

... my mom is french canadian so my lineage is predominantly french.

Poland and Russia...although at the time Poland was a part of the Russian Empire (and as Jews, my grandparents weren't permitted to be citizens of the Czar's domain).

My Mother's side has been in this country so long that it is hard to say anything but American. My father's side (who I barely know) I am thiird generation American since my greatgrandparents were British (County Cornwall).
