I would never want to live someone with awful thunderstorms or tornadoes, hate places with tons of dogs, and I am absolutely terrified of spiders, and we only get small and non-poisonous ones here...
Spiders are probably more prevalent in the warmer states. As for dogs, when we went to New Orleans a few months before Katrina hit, we noticed how plentiful dogs were there. But that was then ~ don't know about now. I live in the Portland, Oregon, area, and dogs are very widespread here, too. More than i'm comfortable with; however, Oregon has very strict leash laws.
I guess I was able to overlook the insects and thunderstorms...
