I'm a professional, single, young black man from L.I,Ny but I live in Pittsburgh,pa. I'm looking for a new start. Pittsburgh is just too old of a city for me. Everything closes Downtown @ 7:00pm for crying out loud. I'm looking for a city with lots of diversity and a good transit system.(I don't like to drive)I'm thinking about moving back to Long Island...but ehhh I don't know!! My mind and options are pretty much open to anyplace in the U.S.(preferably no snow) I've lived in DC and FL. Help?

I feel your pain. I live in Pittsburgh as well and cannot wait to move. I'm waiting on my house to sell. Who knows when that will be... Anyways I am moving to Austin, Tx. I love it down there...lots of things to do at nighttime. Great live music, lots of outdoor things to do, great weather (translated: NO SNOW!). However they don't have a very good transit system. I don't need that though because I have a car.

What do you do for a living? I'm a nurse so there isn't any problems finding a job for me.
Austin is a great city/college town. Have you ever been there? It's very liberal and "live and let live" attitude.
As for diversity...some people claim its lacking there. I don't know to be honest...I see all walks of life there and all races. Go on the Austin board and ask some questions. It does get hot in the summer time though. They had 100+ days there this summer.

I would say San Francisco, you should try the west coast. Portland is also a good recomendation, but it is not known for its nightlife. Well, neither is San Francisco.

Austin would be a good choice.
