How interesting! Thanks for sharing!

I grew up in Winston-Salem...so I got that information first hand. I had never actually seen a breakdown of ancestries - that is interesting.

There is a lot of evidence of German culture around the city. The architecture, the suburb of Germanton and Germanton Road, the Moravian Stars hanging on front porches, the popularity of the Moravian Love Feast at midnight on Christmas Eve and the Moravian Easter Sunrise Services, the German Clubs and Bands around the city and popularity of polka music...

True...I guess N.C./Virginia/S.C. have something in common with Texas...

I think we have to go with certain parts of South Carolina. The Upstate region has a large population of those with Scotch-Irish heritage while Charleston has a lot of English decent. Germans are credited with the mustard barbecue sauce from the Midlands so my guess is that the Midlands is where they all settled for the most part.

I just looked it up....you are correct. Richland/Lexington/Newberry Counties on the Congaree/Saluda/Broad Rivers - the Dutch Fork Region. There were an estimated 8,000 German immigrants living there in 1765. Newberry County is the only S.C. county where Lutherans make up more than 10% of the population.

I learned some obscure colonial history today.

What are you trying to say here? Are you saying that Texas is more Northern in culture? I can't even get sarcastic on you if you believe that because that's sad, I can't even think anymore what to say on this.
