I have been searching endlessly for the past 6 months, haven't found a place that we really like to move to/buy a home at.
I've looked at Seattle, Dallas, Minneapolis, San Jose, Colorado Springs, Phoenix, Henderson(which is right now the top choice due to housing prices, good schools, low crime rate, and I still don't really like the place).
As mentioned before, we are a bi-racial family, we have a son who is four, and we are lesbian parents. We like to live somewhere where we're socially accepted, at least, not attacked for who we are. We currently live in Salt Lake City, there is not much diversity here, and most people are not very accepting of who we are.
We would also like to live somewhere we can foster children, with low crime, and good schools.
Can't really stand snow, we do enjoy the rain and sun. We love to be outdoors, whether it's camping, boating, fishing, riding atv's... As long as there is some form of trails, camp grounds, lakes nearby that would be great.
We also foster pit bulls, so we would like somewhere with no bsl laws in effect.
I been keeping an eye on the housing market also, seems like we can get a pretty good deal from 170k - 250k, so that would be the pricing to stick around. If someone could please give me some ideas of places to look at, that would be great. Even better if you could give an neighborhood instead of just the city.

Thank you.
Dallas would not be a good fit for you. If you want to live in Texas I would probably suggest Austin. It's our most liberal city.

I would think any of the cities on your list, with the possible exception of Colorado Springs, would be fine for you, including Dallas. I lived there with my little multiracial family for a while and we fared well. Quite a few IR couples and biracial kids living there. Houston is great for multiracial families, too. In Texas Austin is best if you want daily access to the great outdoors. Houston and Dallas are more weekend access-type places, unless you live near a lake or something. Don't know much about Henderson.
Yeah, they're actually too out there for my liking. Love the diversity, but have met the strangest people there. Would not want kids to grow up there, cramped together like cattle.
Not to argue, just curious, why don't you think Dallas would be a good fit?
I would recommend any neighborhood near UT.
As for Dallas, I probably shouldn't have said it would be a bad fit. It's just not as ideal as Austin for your situation. Same goes for Houston and San Antonio. Austin has always been our own little San Francisco here in Texas. All of the big Texas cities have an active gay community, it's just that you would probably be more comfortable in Austin because they tend to be more progressive.

^Dallas and Houston are far more diverse than Austin, however, which is something to consider. There are large gay communities in both cities as well. And the parts of Houston I've lived in are pretty progressive.

Isn't housing in Seattle well above your price range?
You need to look at one of those maps that shows how people voted in our last election. It will give you an idea about which are the most conservative states. Then pick the states where the majority voted for Obama. That should help you decide on where you and your family will be comfortable. I would say to stick with the east or west coast or pick a university town somewhere in the middle. You might want to avoid the south unless you chose Atlanta.
I would recommend Dallas but you recommended fostering children. I am not 100% sure if Texas allows gay and lesbian COUPLES to adopt but a single gay male or a single lesbian can adopt.
It all depends on where you live, I would try to find a GLBT family in Dallas and ask them about it.
Minneapolis should also be a great fit. I once saw a gay couple on HGTV with kids and they said it's a very welcoming city. I am not 100% sure if they were biracial or not but I know the kids seemed to be of two different races.
I wish you the best!
