From certain angles-yes.

However, LA's is much denser while Houston's is taller. I know most on here prefer density, so that's probably why LA is preferred. Houston is like Dubai (well not really) because it is tall, but doesn't have much density. Dubai is for changing now, but for the most part it's just random supertalls in the middle of a desert.

Houston's downtown is pretty dense at certain angles. From the north, it does not look dense but that is because all of the other towers are hidden. From any other view, you see the true density of Downtown.

Houston has the third most continuous skyline in the nation so it wins for density over LA. Houston's Uptown beats Century City easily. LA's downtown has been in competition for quite a while. The tallest building in LA is just a few feet taller than Chase Tower in Houston and was built intentionally that high to be the largest building west of the Mississippi. But when you look at the economies of both cities, Houston gets the last laugh.

Why would you say such a thing?

- Los Angeles GDP = $639,000,000

- Houston GDP = $235,000,000,000

When will that "last laugh" register?

According to this list of the Worlds Richest Cities, L.A. beats out Houston by nearly a multiple of 3.

GDP is not a measure of the state of an economy. Houston is thriving; LA is diving. Got mortgage crisis?

I think LA just a little more, but that is only cause of name recognition.
Houston has better buildings.

No he meant on average, Houston's downtown is taller. Los Angeles has the taller building. But overall, Houston has the taller downtown.
