My favorite Christmas scene is in Philadelphia's 30th Street Station, when they set a tree up in front of (and below) the Pennsylvania Railroad War Memorial.

This photo is dark, and doesn't quite capture the grandeur of it: http://lh5.ggpht.com/_PtA5V_OJX3A/Rc...k/DSC03117.JPG

But the green tree in front of the cold bronze statue always makes me feel moved - life and death, two symbols of the American psyche, etc.

I absolutely love Christmas time here in Chicago's suburbs (and Chicago, too, naturally). Lots of lights, carollers (sp?), raging fireplaces, festive spirits, crisp air, snowfall, ice carvings, winter festivals, amazing window displays, etc, etc. Ive only been away from here one time for Christmas, went to Scottsdale, AZ where it was 60 degrees and dry as a bone. Felt like a bad nightmare. A horrible, bad, nightmare.
