Denver is by far the most beautiful cityscape in the U.S, and I don't see why everyone is voting for N.Y.C, it's big and cool and all, but the city is sooooo boring looking. Denver is huge, and has a magnificant skyline in every aspect. this picture only shows about half of denver:

Id agree that Denver has a wonderful backdrop, but the city itself is "boooooring looking". There is absolutely no taste in architecture in that skyline, its all modern, whereas NYC's skyline is immense and filled with different architectural styles. Not trying to harp on Denver, its one of my fave cities, but there isnt one single building downtown (other than Coors Field) that had me do a double-take.

The thing with Denver is, it's right by mountains. Great backdrop for any skyline, but the skyline itself is only decent. New York dosen't really have (good looking) background scenery, and they don't need it, because of the size and variety in the skyline.
What I'm trying to say is, Denver gets points because it has help from nature. By the way, Denver really isn't all that big, but it is a great city.

Even the mts. around denver are not that impressive. Go to N. California or Wyoming for some real nice jagged peaked mts. The skyline is ok, but its no NYC, Chicago, or San Fran.

When going through Texas it is like you hit one breathtaking skyline after another. DFW's is very nice, and Austin's is nothing to look down upon. Houston is amazing though!! Almost all the buildings are shiny and impressive. Made for the 21 century, and very 'smart' looking. No wonder people from around the world love coming and taking pics of the view. Chicago's skyline is old and for the most part run down and hard on the eyes. Houston's shows promise in the future with more than just one cookie cutter brick highrise after another. If you think it is going to get better than just wait. They are planning on putting up this Spire, which is the most disgusting piece of architecture that I have ever seen before in my life. It looks like an upside tornado. And it is supposed to be the tallest building on the planet!! Who thought than onw up?! Just because New York is going all out with the Freedom Tower, doesn't mean that Chicago needs to one-up-them. After New York and Houston I would have to say that any city, like Denver, SLC, or Boise, that use the mountains to complete their skyline are very impressive. But come on. New York and Houston really do have some of the most impressive buildings in there cities.

Now H-TOWN, when you mention DFW, which city are you thinking about?
(Like I don't already know the answer. )
But Houston does have the best skyline in Texas. The city looks like it has 3 downtowns! It's almost like New York...and I say almost so I don't want any of you New Yorkers ganging up on me .

lol! I know that they are two seperate cities, but hey, it took less time to type. Short story--> The first trip, on my way back to Illinois I went through Dallas, and FW. I stayed there for the evening in a hotel in Dallas, or so I thought. I mentioned to an older couple eating ice cream onside how nice I thought Dallas was. They remarked back, "Well, to bad you are in FW!," and walked away.
I see your point about Houston too. It really is great, and although I wouldn't say that we are quite to the standard that New York is, we sure come close. Which is something that the whole state can be proud of.

H-Town, what are you smoking? Comparing Houston to NYC? Pfft. No comparison there. NYC is far and away a MUCH better looking and MUCH better city, not to mention alot safer. Houstons skyline is decent, but its hardly beautiful. I believe youre the one who was banned for attacks earlier and are now back to bash Chicago, when its clear you dont know a dang thing about what youre talking about.
First, lets set some facts: The Chicago Spire, although a bit bizarre looking, is NOT going to be the tallest building on the planet. That would be the Burj Dubai in Dubai, UAE. Nice try.
Second, Chicago has had numerous designs for the current Spire, ALL of which are older than the Freedom Tower in NYC. Dont give me this one-upmanship crap, thats rediculous. Chicago has always claimed the tallest buildings in the US, and were also the BIRTHPLACE of the skyscraper. Give it a rest, you dont know anything about this stuff apparently.
Thirdly, SOME buildings in Chicago are older, but theyre still beautiful (333 Wacker, Carbide and Carbon Building, Tribune Tower, Wrigley Building, John Hancock, etc), way more beautiful than any modern crap that Houston has puked up. Ask anyone, ANYONE, and theyll tell you that Chicago, even more so than NYC, has beautiful architecture. Not a soul says anything about Houston. Wanna know why? Its architecture is modern and not pleasing to the eye. And if you want to keep going with this argument, I can show you about 15 buildings that are under development in Chicago that will knock your socks off. Here in Chicago, we have STYLE, something 95% of skylines lack. And dont forget that the nations foremost architectural group (Skidmore, Owings and Merrill) is here in Chicago as well as Trumps new building.

Here comes that Chicago way of thinking that I have spoken about before.
First: I was introduced to city-data a few days ago through some friends and a research project. I don't know who you are talking about, but I have never been banned from this page. Was there another H-TOWN or something?
Second. I never compared Houston to NYC. Have always stated that NYC is by FAR the best in the nation. But in my personal opinion Houston is a nice second. I lived in Chicago for five years. Many of the these so called historic venues are very much pieces of junk.
Excuse me for talking about the Spire. They only came on our campus to see how well it would be taken by our demographic. I was also on the school council for that meeting. As soon as the Freedom Tower was proposed, the Spire spokesman told us that NYC was only trying to out do Chicago, so of course Chicago had to make it bigger. I think the Freedom Tower has EVRY right to be ten times that of the stupid Spire.
People say plenty about Houston's skyline. Everyone that I have met that has come to Houston for the first time is in awe at how great it is. Most don't make it this far inland in Texas without flying, so they never see the beauty from the highway. What's wrong with being modern? I'm glad I live in a city now that is with the times, and not stuck four decades ago when it comes to design of buildings. Sorry if we aren't as old as Chicago. Maybe some see the crumbling oldness as a sign of artisitc design, but here in Houston we see that as urban decay. I guess all of Chicago's ghetto's are artisitc bliss as well?

And then you say that the Chicago Spire is fine. What are you smoking?!
