There you go, here comes a member with the "provocation post du jour"

So we lost two very tall but undeniably bad buildings here in Manhattan and suddenly our skyline totally lost its appeal, right?

Now, tell me... when was the last time you were in New York City?

I invite you to come over and see some of the great new buildings built after 9/11 by great architects such as Norman Foster, Frank Gehry or Renzo Piano.

Actually, now that I think about it, Id have to say Louisville's skyline is quite nice for a city its size. Approaching from the north in southern Indiana (also beautiful) and seeing her lights on the river is quite a beautiful scene!

Default New York

Coming from someone who was born in Texas (so I feel I can be objective) and lived in several different states/big cities, the New York skyline is beyond compare. I would give Chicago or Boston an honorable mention.

Portland or Seattle. They have the background scenery. For skyscrapers I like the deep blue glass or emerald green. Pittsburgh has a neat skyline. For its size its probably the best skyline. Overall I think they all look redundant though.

Default No Contest...

Earlier in the thread, someone wrote that NYC has no architecture. That is utter ignorance.

Here are some general skyline photos...

I am not sure if this has been posted or not, but here is what one person thinks.

http://www.diserio.com/top15-skylines.html

I agree with Chicago, it is my favorite in the US. Although I am partial to Cincy as well (since I grew up there). Outside of the US, I think Toronto's skyline is beautiful.

Many cities look good from the side. But look at aerial photos and you'll realize theres not much to them.
