They still have minimum wage jobs in NYC?

You need a car to live in Queens here in NYC...you definitely would need one for Syracuse, lol. I went to school in that area, and mass transit isn't reliable enough to get you around town. MAYBE if you lived downtown and worked downtown, but who wouldn't want to have a car to leave the downtown area? You would really be confined to that one area.

It depends on what line you live off of. If you live in the Northern suburbs, you could do it. Same with places like Onondaga Hill, Nedrow, the Western suburbs off of West Genesee Street and most of the Eastern suburbs. You just have to know how to read the schedule really.........

Seattle for sure, in fact my son sold his car.
He lives in capital hill and works downtown.
Most days he just walks or uses the city's extensive,
reliable and affordable mass transit. Of course good old
dad is always there when camping season kicks in.

Denver has an excellent bus system and an expanding commuter rail system. It is now in the process of the largest single build out of commuter rail in the nation.
Many people in Denver and the suburbs get along just fine without a car or with minimum use. Denver has many walkable neighborhoods with the most extensive park/open space system in the country. In addition, the metro Denver area is one of the most bicycle friendly area, in the nation, with numerous trails and bike lanes.
I have lived and worked in New York City, without a car. Denver is not NYC but I have been amazed of how extensive and well run the public transit is in Metro Denver. NYC is a great place to live car free but you can do it in Denver and without the stress and costs associated with NYC.

Atlanta has a very good mass transit system and one of the nation's lower costs of living. You might want to check it out.

If you're moving to a new city it's likely you don't have a job ready so will anyone even rent to you without proof of income???
