I know you're trying to make a point and might not have meant this literally, but that statement is not true.

Geez, it was a joke. One more thing that makes NYC different from other cities, New Yorkers tend to be VERY sarcastic.

I think most people in America are sarcastic, not just New Yorkers.

What if they detonate a nuclear or biological weapon in Lower Manhattan or Midtown-would that suit your fancy? 9-11 didn't effect NYC-it was an attack on America.

Fact is, no one really cares about LA execpt for Hollywood. NYC is held to a higher regard internationaly. Travel to Europe and say you're from New York, you'll make a new friend, saying you're from LA, you might get a shrug and a question about celebrity news.
What would suit me is if new york weren't saved every time it failed. I would like to see it not cry like a punk. (How much did that pitcher earn from the yankees today?) I'd like for just once to see it stand on its own feet without leaning all over everyone else! That, would be a first. No more Bank of America, no more Citicorp. Wells Fargo all the way!!

Saved every time? Those banks and big corporations are what makes up NY. If NY wouldn't get saved, then the rest of the country would go down with it even harder.

Can't exactly call it a melting pot since the city is very segregated. That title would belong to cities like Sacramento or Houston.
