I picked LA-HOU-SF because it's the only group that I have lived in. The NY-DAL-BOS is probably a more powerful group.

Philly is fading, It was #4 as recently as 2005. I'm still skeptical about these gargantuan metroes that spread 13,000 sq miles and Philly is pigeon holed at 4,500 sq miles but what are you going to do?.

I'm not even going to get into Mercer County NJ which is 15 miles from the border of the city of Philadelphia yet gets included in the NYC metro 70 miles away.http://www.phillyblog.com/philly/images/smilies/bs.gif (broken link)

Here are my stances:

NY: Don't like -1
Dallas: No stance +0
Boston: No stance +0
TOTAL: -1

LA: Don't like -1
Houston: Like +1
SF: Like +1
TOTAL: +2

Chicago: Like +1
Wash: Don't like -1
Philly: Don't like -1
TOTAL: -1

So GROUP 2 wins for me.

I'd go with the second group

L.A. (entertainment industry, port + others), Hous (energy industry, medical, NASA, port), SF (tech + finance).... all very international, diverse cities as well.

Not sure how -1 + 1 + 1 = 2...but still same end result.

For me, I think I'd enjoy living/working in the NYC-Bos-Dal grouping. Very diverse and distinct cities.

If Chicago had taken San Fran instead of Philly or Wash, I would've been all over that group. I like DC and Philly, but they are in such close proximity I can do with just one of em (probably lean towards DC).
