I like Alaska' flag too, same colors as Indiana. What does the design mean?

First choice is Indiana.
During the American Revolution the colonial forces had to quickly build Fort Moultrie out of Palmettos due to an attack by the Redcoats. I don't know the whole story and I'm sure someone can explain it better. But anyway, ever since then SC has become known as the Palmetto State.

Personally, South Carolina is my favorite state flag. Other favorites include New Mexico, Colorado, Maryland, Arizona, and Hawaii. Basically, I like any state flag that doesn't have the very boring, uncreative, and unconventional design of a state seal on a monochrome field or blue or white.

Simple and cool. The flag speaks for itself.

I'm biased and will have to go for my native South Carolina here. I've never really liked flags with seals or words on them.

Iowa's is pretty blah, although I love our state motto (which is on the flag). I cast my vote for Colorado.
