If you buy the line about the new mason-dixon line being in Richmond, VA, I moved from Southern-feeling Hampton, VA to Northern-feeling Alexandria, VA.

So true, Northern Virgina is similiar to the NY suburbs. Fast paced ppl who work in DC. How do you like Alexandria compared to Hampton?

Yes, GA native > DC after college, then NYC.
Husband was transferred to FL, so we returned to the South.
I liked where we lived in NYC (Brooklyn Heights). Very neighborly.
Loathed the N. VA suburbs (McLean), as did my sister (Oakton).
We're both back in the South now; she in Charlotte (loves it), I in Atlanta (love it).

Brooklyn Heights is a great area, very desirable. Atlanta in Charlotte are nice too....whats your fav. area you lived in?

I moved from North New Jersey (NYC suburbs) to Orlando, Fl and will be moving shortly to Philadelphia, PA. I can not wait, luckily the Orlando move was just temporary because this culturless place is horrible.

I do not like Alexandria much compared to any city. Hampton is a place where life dawdles by, I feel like I aged 10 years in Alexandria when i've only been here for 4 1/2 years.

it takes a lot to get me to even leave Chicago, and i really hate having to go back south even to visit my family.
