which would be better in terms of moving there. all opinions welcome. also mention if you lived, visited, worked etc. in any of these places. looking for job opportunities, schools, standard of living, safety, outdoor activities etc etc.
Two vastly different locales... For the most part: one hot and dry, vs. one hot and humid [summers]; one a much more brown and bare rocks, vs. one having lots of green and tall trees. Love both, but overall my pref is 'nooga. As atlantagreg inquired: need to know more about your desires... type of job searching, etc. I've lived in the Chattanooga area, visited Tucson. I do, as said, enjoy both areas - the stark areas of the SW are , esp. from a geological perspective , but after awhile, being from the midwest, I miss the green and humidity. Tucson would probably have a more open feeling, in regards to the atmosphere of the area,,, more sky if you will. Chattanooga has come a long way, is quite nice area. Again tho' need more input from ya...
I'd lobby hard for Tucson. It is dry & has the bluest of skies.. so many blue sunny days, and air is so clear that astronomy is big around the area. The U of A is a top choice too.
During the monsoon season it gets a bit sticky, but not oppressive. Then too, Tucson is right up against Mt Lemmon - which has the most southerly skiing in the US. It is wonderful to ski snow board in morning, zip down and play 18 holes in the sun.. and have a swim too. And in summer the reverse.. leave the 105 degrees and zip up the mountain.. better bring a sweater..!! Alas.. I left the old pueblo for the megalopolis to the north.. many years ago. But then.. it is only a short drive down, albeit through construction & nearly bumper-to-bumper traffic
It won't be long and we will count Tucson as the far southeast Valley
I've been to Tennessee, but it has been a while. There are nice areas there, but I have to go with Tucson. I love Tucson this time of year as well, because we still get the winter weather to a lessor degree. Friday the high will be 59, and the low will be 29. The clear blue skies are replaced by just as impressive layers of clouds that butt up against the mountains and across the valley to form strange formations that look even more impressive if the sun happens to peak through (or at sunrise and sunset).
