In the midst of the country's overall struggling economy, some place are clearly doing better than others.
I recently was in Billings, Montana for business, and can honestly say that I have never seen so many "Now Hiring" or "Help Wanted" signs. It seemed like everyone was looking for emplyees, from stores to restaurants to hotels. It was even to the point where hotels were posting jobs on their outdoor signs instead of rates.
Fargo, ND, where I live, is somewhat like this, but not quite to that extreme. So what other places are also experiencing this; where businesses appear desperate for workers?
I realize a lot of these jobs are not high paying or career-type jobs, but at least they're jobs!
A number of interior Western states are looking for people, especially Midwesterners who need jobs. Of course, it's not easy to leave family and/or urban amentities behind, you know.
Regarding the help wanted ads, beware of scams. In these tough times, enterprising fraudsters are not beyond advertising for jobs with a catch being that you need to "invest" some of your own money, say, in a business that seeks to profit from buying and selling foreclosure properties. Also, watch out for small companies that you never heard of who charge you to attend a management training class before you are later "employed" by the company.

While this is very good advice, it's not really what I had in mind.
I was looking for cities where you still see a lot of "Now Hiring" signs posted outside of well-known businesses, like chain stores, restaurants, and hotels.
