I figured people may want to take a break from all of the city bashing and discuss a different type of topic.

What do you think are some of the country's best romantic getaway towns or cities?

I'd like to get some opinions from people across the country.

I've never been there, but there are some nice little towns in Missouri wine country outside of St. Louis. Lake of the Ozarks can be romantic and relaxing, but I guess a lot of it depends on what your plans are.

Stretching the border a bit, my vote is for the old section of Quebec City. Stayed at the Chateau Frontenac on my honeymoon and was quite impressed with the city. Carriage rides around the old section of town and some very walkable places make for some romantic walks. Went back after a while and the town really is that romantic and found it wasn't just the time frame that made it romantic the last time.

Oak Bluffs, MA on Martha's Vineyard. I've heard that Nantucket is even better. Alexandria Bay, NY in the 1000 Islands region is nice. If you go there, check out Boldt Castle nearby:Official Boldt Castle Web-Site - Home Page

You might like the Tri-Lakes communities of Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and Lake Placid in NY's Adirondack region too.
