Avoid excessively industrial cities, as places like Akron have few trees.

Ann Arbor, Michigan and many "college towns" have a lot of flora.

Thanks for all the responses-- and the pictures. I guess anywhere on the east coast (during the summer) is going to be greener than what I'm used to (duh). Oh yeah, and thanks, cosmic, for the history lesson.
