In what order would rank the Midwestern states and why?
For me, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Missouri are my favorites because of their diverse and beautiful landscapes not to mention their numerous amounts of lakes. Southwest Wisconsin has some mountainous terrain and Missouri has the Ozarks and both Missouri and Illinois have large towering river bluffs along the Mississippi in certain places. The Great Plains states, while beautiful and open, are just too flat and uninteresting in most areas for me to take much notice except for Western South Dakota. Ohio has the Allegheny Plateau and the Appalachians in the East Central and Southeastern portion. Various parts of Southern Illinois below St. Louis also have the Ozarks, and Northwestern Illinois has various large and mountainous areas in areas that escaped glaciation. So here are my rankings:

1. Minnesota
2. Wisconsin
3. Missouri
4. Michigan
5. Ohio
6. Illinois
7. North Dakota
8. South Dakota
9. Iowa
10. Indiana
11. Nebraska
12. Kansas

How would you rank them and why?

Lightbulb ******

1> Minnesota
2> Wisconsin
3> Michigan
4> Ohio...only the hilly southeast and along the lake
Too many tornadoes in the rest. They scare the ______[fill in the blank]
out of me. I wouldn't want to live anywhere that they occur on a frequent
basis.

I'll probably get stomped for saying this, but I've been all over Illinois. The southern part of the state is barely hilly, and the NW is far from "mountainous". I think the south is hillier than the NW. That said, I think the Fox River Valley is very pretty.
