People always think LA is sooooo dangerous. Its not.

Our violent crime rate is way below the national average and it continues to go lower.

Maybe one day, LA will be known as a safe city instead of one giant ghetto.

The latest I could find for Boise was in 2007, with ten murders. Sounds like quite a little for a city of 200,000. But that was damn near a record year with only 6 in 2006 and 0, literally 0 in 2004. A few of the murders in 07 were crazy kids killing their parents so I don't know what that means.

But the lack of violent crime here is awesome. Guess we're pretty chill out here.

The cops kill more people than get murdered around here, actually maybe that has something to do with it.

"Guns don't kill people, the BPD does."

The nearest BIG city to me is about 100-125 miles away.

Jacksonville's murder count was 143 in '08, 152 in '07 and 137 in '06. Jacksonville's murder count is 63 so far. For a city of 807,815 we may have fewer than 100 slayings, which would be lovely.

I was surprised at Chicago's murder rate per 100,000 through July of this year. I knew it was extremely skewed, but not this much:

Black: 22.11/100,000
Hispanic: 6.61/100,000
Asian: 2.10/100,000
White: 0.80/100,000

The 900,000 whites in Chicago see roughly 10 murders a year. That's pretty damn low.

^that's how it is everywhere, unfortunately. Heres how San Francisco breaks down for 2008:

Pacific Islander: 154.9/100,000 (3,228 Pacific Islanders, 5 were murdered)
Black: 90.7/100,000 (51,795 Blacks, 47 were murdered)
Latino: 26.5/100,000 (105,790 Latinos, 28 were murdered)
White: 3.7/100,000 (408,621 whites, 15 were murdered)
Asian: 2.1/100,000 (239,426 Asians, 5 were murdered)

SF's doing amazingly well too. We had 96 murders in 2005, 86 murders in 2006, 100 murders in 2007 and 99 murders in 2008, yet this year we've had only 32 so far, down from 74 at this time in '08. It's on track to be the lowest murder rate in SF in decades.

metro Atlanta murders for 2008
People have to remember that the actual city of Atlanta is very small, not even 500,000 people. Most people in the metro live outside the actual city.

City of Atlanta- 112
Fulton County-69
Dekalb County-103
Clayton County-78
Cobb County-36
Gwinnett County-57
