Default Great Lakes!

Steve- you beat me to the punch! Here's another vote for Lake Michigan , and the Great Lakes in general. Our favorite is on Lake Huron in southern Ontario, but PA's Presque Isle has some very nice beaches on Lake Erie as well. Clear water, no critters, and generally undeveloped!

Many years ago while living in California, my favorite beaches were Newport and Malibu. I just loved them, and have some of the best memories of time spent there.

I really enjoy Wrightsville and the Wilmington, NC region. I also like Myrtle, but it's so doggone crowded.

I'll chime in with carolinajack here on this list. Good choices, I've been to all except Seaside Beach, OR. Isle of Palm is one of my favs. Here in my area of southern cal I like Crystal Cove state park just north of Laguna Beach. San Clemente has a great beach too.

Default I'm sure no swimmer.

That is why my vote is for Ocean Beach, San Francisco, CA.

I used to take the L Taraval to the end of the line, purchase a small flask of bourbon, and walk up to the Cliff House on the beach.

In addition to that, the best spot to chill: THORNHILL BROOME, CA.
