I wouldn't have thought it, either.

As for 'no statistics for Kansas City', it usually makes the top 10-15 in terms of most dangerous cities. 2007 probably wouldn't have been a banner year, either, unfortunately.

Ive been studying crime rates in cities for a long time and I know the current rankings and these arent close to being right. Im not sure where you got these from.

Just one example, there is no way that Chicago is that far down on the list. It shouldnt be anywhere close to the worst on the list.

It's not, I stated that earlier. The actual stats put it about 12 places higher than it's listed. I have no idea why it is where it is on that list.

I wonder if the OP is basing this off of total violent crime incidents reported or just homicide, which people usually think of when the term violent crime comes up?

I just wanted to inform everybody that the list is far from correct.

I have no idea what the Thread starter is basing this off of.

Off the top I can name a lot of cities that should be in different places: Chicago, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston, Milwaukee, Nashville.

All of those should be at least a couple more spots on the safer side.

I know for a fact that Omaha is above the national average for violent crime and they're rated 11th safest on the OP's list. ?????

Sweetclimber says:

"I also hear Los Angelese is also experiencing a drop in crime. So much for all the hysteria surrounding illegals, and how they were going to turn these cities into crime-ridden cesspools."

Ummm...okay....so what's your point?

What? We should welcome into this country as many illegals as possible...because, hey!, afer all, they're harmless folk??!!

Well....anyway.....I didn't see KCMO on the list (Censusdata says that the KCMO results were unavailable).....well, personally, I don't need to see the results...because from what I've seen of KCMO....there's a whooole lotta crime going on in that mid-west city, that's for sure!

Most of the cities on the list are above the national average for crime...Omaha can be the 11th "safest" on the list, but still have a crime rate above the national average...

Yeah, I was speaking of violent crime in particular, though.
