Well, at least the Rangers aren't as bad a baseball team as the Lions are a football team

Kansas City:
1. Chiefs football. The new GM was BIG front page news today. He's some guy from the Patriots. Everyone has pretty much declared him savior of the franchise. We'll see.
2.-3. College basketball when the Jayhawks are good, which is usually. The Mizzou Tigers and K-State Wildcats also have very strong followings in the area. College football can also be quite popular at times.
2.-3. Royals baseball is itching something terrible to be a force again in this town. Many of us think they're getting closer to greatness, believe it or not. Yes, the Royals.
4. NASCAR, If you call that a sport.
5. Wizards soccer, if you call that a sport.
6. Hockey could be surprisingly popular, if there were a team here.
7. The NBA shouldn't even bother.

Being West Texas, football is the most popular sport, but it's not a "religion" or "way of life" like Hollywood portrays it. Baseball, basketball, and tennis (yes, tennis) are very close behind.

Football and baseball in Rochester. The Bills are almost as big in Rochester as they are in Buffalo. The Yankees and Mets dominate as far as MLB is concerned.

Hockey is also huge. The pro team here is one of the longest running teams in the country. Rochester also produces more hockey players than any other sport. There are several Rochester natives in the NHL and in other pro leagues.

Soccer and lacrosse as well. We almost had an MLS team here and Rochester has a lacrosse team in both the top indoor and outdoor leagues.

Basketball...well no one really cares. Thankfully.
