What is the biggest event in the last 10 or 20 years to take place in your city?

The upcoming inauguration is what got me thinking about this.

I think the 2004 Super Bowl in Houston was our biggest event. If not for the Super Bowl we never would have started a light rail line here.

St. Louis, maybe the MLB All-Star game coming up.

My little town? Nothing.

The biggest event in Milwaukee every summer is Summerfest. Last year, over 850,000 people were in attendance. Also, Milwaukee is the home of Harley Davidson, and their 100th Anniversary celebration was attended by 250,000 people. They had their 105th this year (with Bruce Springsteen, the Black Crowes, Peter Frampton, Joan Jett, Blue Oyster Cult, etc). I'm not sure what the attendance was this year, but it was big.

Also, just north of Milwaukee, Whistling Straits at Kohler hosted the 86th PGA Championship, and will host the 92nd and 97th as well. This golf course in Kohler is a stunning venue along the shores of Lake Michigan.

To me, also something huge in Milwaukee was the opening of the Calatrava Art Museum, once again on the shores of Lake Michigan - beautiful.

9/11 in Northern VA. That is undoubtedly the biggest event in Northern VA in the last few years.
