I guess I didn't think about those institutions. I wasn't born back in the 1970s.

No, I didn't notice Mpls in 1978 - that's cool.

That's alright. That's what I'm here for. I wish this information was past on more by those that are older.

Some more interesting ten cities lists include; in 1947 Negro Digest stated that Boston, Detroit, NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle, Buffalo, San Francisco, Cleveland and LA were the top 10 cities for blacks at the time.

In 1948, the same publication stated that the 10 worst cities were: Columbia SC, Greenville SC, Alexandria LA, Atlanta, Jackson MS, Annapolis MD, Birmingham, Miami, Houston and Washington DC, in that order. Criteria used for that list included amount of lynching, kidnapping or other mob activity, access to libraries, schools, hospital, parks, number of churches and youth centers, juvenile delinquency level, number of Blacks in public services jobs(particularly police officers and firefighters) and nondiscriminatory access to public transportation.

Wow, look how things have changed. Even though not all would be on the best list, none of those cities would now be on the worst list.
