I'm looking for areas with potential to grow/develop and affordable housing (100k) with more of a liberal/progressive tone than conservative values.

Maybe I'm dreaming but.. I'm trying to find something nearer Utopia than my current locale.

One place I've been considering is Columbus, Ohio but if you've got anything better please add a comment.

Thank you.

What exactly makes a person want to avoid people with a certain set of values? Seems a little closed-minded.

Some places in the South might not be as conservative as you think. The cities tend to be liberal. There are a lot of cheap houses throughout the South. Some areas of the Southwest might have cheap housing, and they are more liberal. And there's always Detroit.

Thanks for your reply!

Umm.. michigan83. I don't mind people with conservative values per se. I just don't want to live where those values represent the majority of the population. I would prefer to live somewhere that me and my friends aren't the only bastion of liberal thought within the community. I'm sure you can understand that.. birds of a feather.. lol.

city_data91Thanks for the suggestions.

Newarkbomb I'll check out Syracuse and Rochester.. thanks.

There is an 1 1/2 hours between cities which area are you referring to ckhthankgod ?

Haven't had a chance to research both areas yet.. but I'm assuming they're more liberal and affordable areas to live, etc.

Here's some examples of what we have here in the Syracuse area.....I think you would like the part of the city around the University and Westcott neighborhood on the East side of the city.
