What are some of the best areas of the west to live in?

I'm not looking for a big city just a good place to retire.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just want to make sure I don't miss anywhere for consideration.
I don't need schools or jobs. Good weather is a big plus without a lot of snow please.

Denver & Colorado Springs, CO. They get a decent amount of snow, but it doesnt stick around long. Most of the year the weather is absolutely perfect, probably the best outside of southern Cali IMO.

I'm very fond of Carson City NV. I like the climate, when you're bored with the desert you can be in Lake Tahoe in 30 minutes, when that gets old you can go to the ocean for a weekend, and Carson City itself is a nice place.

According to "Places Rated Almanac", it ranks 95th out of 354 areas in the nation for jobs. The poster said they were looking for a place to retire, so getting a job might not be an issue.
