Tiny towns in your area that should be annexed to neighboring big towns? (crime rate, school district)

Do you know any towns in your area that are like a couple square miles big and ever wonder "WHY DON'T THEY JUST ANNEX IT TO THE BIGGER NEGHBORING TOWNS!" I know i do, im in Bergen County NJ, which probably is the best example of what im talking about because There is 70 towns and cities in one county. And the county is only half the size of Los Angeles.

Some towns are pointless, like Teterboro, NJ which is a square mile big that is mostly industrial with a population of 18... ridiculous

If you could annex any little towns in your area or just anywhere, what towns would you connect??

for me Teterboro, South Hackensack, Hackensack, Maywood, Teaneck, Englewood, and Bogota... Bam one big city with a population of around 105,000

I sure wish that the city of Sacramento would annex all of the unincorporated county land that should be in the city limits. It would make the city population close to 1 million.

Here in San Antonio, we've got 5 little towns surrounded on at least 3 sides by the city of San Antonio. Only one of them has its own school district. At least 4 of these should be annexed into the big city.

When I lived in Madison, Wisconsin, there was a 2 square-mile area surrounded by the city of Madison that refused to be annexed. That area had the highest crime rate in the entire county. They would have benefitted greatly from the resources of the big-city police force. But time and time again the people who lived there would vote down annexation. It was maddening.

Each town may have different city laws and tax rates. Nobody in a town with low taxes or utility rates would want to join a city just to pay higher taxes or suddenly find themselves breaking laws that did't exist when they were independant. If you look closely at a map of Los Angeles you'll find lots of independant incorporated cities right in the middle: Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, San Fernando, Burbank, Pasadena, Glendale, Azuza, etc. City of Industry California was incorporated for the sole reason of staying OUT of L.A. to keep business tax low. It has only 777 residents.

Most incorporated small towns adjacent to major cities incorporate in order to avoid being annexed for whatever reason. Legally, I don't think the larger city can force annexation.

Well, Omaha has the benefit of being able to forcibly annex any town in the county under 10,000.

Why is that?

I don't think any town should be annexed by a larger city against the will of the people who live in that town. It would possibly benefit the larger city, but how would the annexation affect the people of the smaller town?

Atlanta is surrounded on most sides by incorporated towns that cannot be annexed...so Atlanta hasn't grown through annexation since 1952. I would be all for Atlanta absorbing Decatur, College Park, Hapeville, East Point, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Doraville, Chamblee, etc...all are either partly or completely inside the Perimeter (I-285) and would be a natural fit as part of the city - but all are incorporated cities themselves, some for 100 or more years. It would be great for the City of Atlanta because these areas would add about 300,000 people to the population.

Though not tiny towns Newport News and Hampton, VA should annex together. Both towns are very long but not very wide. Both are kissing cousins of each other. Their combination would make a city of over 300k.
