Wouldn't it be neato if we can put land over the atlantic ocean so we get more states east of the east coast states?? We can have states built on landfill where the atlantic ocean is up from the east coast beaches to a couple of miles off of africa/portugal. wouldn't it be cool to see new states there

I think we should probably get rid of a few states before adding any.

Not that I have any in mind...

What an odd idea. I think Puerto Rico is east of the East Coast and on occasion it's suggested it be a state.

Others suggest having states leave. I don't think that's a great idea, but maybe I could see Vermont being happier on its own or as part of Canada. Its economy is small enough we wouldn't lose much. New Mexico being given back to Mexico could maybe give a place for Mexicans wanting a higher quality of life without having them come to the US.

Vermont and the five other New England states could form a nation.

New Mexico, Arizona, western Texas, and southern California could probably form one nation-state.

Honestly, the U.S. as it stands would probably be best broken up into about five or six distinct regions.

I seem to remember from my college Canadian history course that Newfoundland had been considered as an additional U.S. state. It didn't join Canada until 1949. Strangely, before that it was once independent but somehow made the UK take it back. By all accounts, a different sort of folk live there. Even has a crazy time zone.

Why don't we attack the Canadian Maritimes and steal them away from Canada? Or invade Bermuda and take that from GB?
