Some signs are good, some are bad. Supposedly an IOC member has been quoted saying it was "Chicago's to lose", but I don't think anyone has a rock solid source for this alleged comment.
It would be good for Chicago's architecture community... I've now worked for two firms that were part of the initial proposal, and I'd like to think I could get a piece of it if it comes here.

Well, yes and no. Im also concerned about the loss of existing architecture (i.e. Michael Reese, parkland, etc) and other things that may be steamrolled over in the name of the games.
Im interested to see how forward thinking or modern the proposed designs will be. We could easily get stuck with some real clunkers on our hands due to keeping costs down...the stuff Ive seen so far is pretty uninspiring.
I know people that have gone to Brazil for better opportunity...
