Yea I was surprised that people kept putting VA with basketball. VATech football is far bigger than UVA basketball, and seemingly everyone here care about the Redskins, can't say the same about the other professional teams up in DC.

And high school, DEFINITELY football first.

People might say i'm crazy but I think N Carolina is a football first place also. High school football here is way more popular than high school basketball. College football is every bit as popular as college basketball too. The state has two great programs for college basketball that have been good for a while and because they are good, that increased the popularity of the sport. From what I understand football was as big as anywhere in the early years until the local colleges started winning big which stole some of the thunder.Carolina Panthers are also huge here.
