I was just wondering. I live in the South, and I have travelled through the Deep South, the Northeast, and parts of the Midwest. I have never been to the West Coast yet.

Anyways- through my travells, I find hardly much difference at all these days. There is a difference- but its subtle

Small towns everywhere have some kind of strip mall, or national chain stores and restaurants. And cities are becoming more like each other. There is a variant in architecture to a degree, but thats it

And basically the people are pretty much the same- regional dialects are not as strong, and getting past that, everyone seems to be the same.

My question is- since people are moving around so much these days- are cultural distinctions in areas becoming less and less? Because it seems it used to be the native culture of a place set the dominant pace of the scene, but these days with everyone being from "someplace else"- there really isnt any "native" culture to places anymore. Or its fast dying out, or becoming less distinct

What do y'all think?
