As big as this country is, that's truly considered just a few miles. Again, I see no rationale for such a move whatsoever.

Richmond, no.

If the Feds absolutely had to relocate the Nations Capitol, my bet would be Denver. The Feds and military already have a huge amount of infrastructure along the front range of the Rockies. Denver is centralized deep within the U.S. and easy to defend with no serious threat of natural disaster.

I have heard talk that if any move were to be made by the capital, it would be to Denver. Just sayin'...

Whoa, sorry for confusing Denver with the middle of the country earlier...Let's just move the capital to Alaska, thus making it's location irrelevant to the most people (as Alaska has the lowest population density). Yarr!

^^^ Don't worry, Palin can see Russia and Putin from her house. We'll just keep her around as a night watch with a blanket, an alarm, and some binoculars, you betcha!

This thread is kinda crazy, but if the capital was moved, it should be moved to:

1. Saint Louis
2. Kansas City
3. Denver
4. Oklahoma City
5. Tulsa

or a new location at the intersection of the Mississippi or Ohio Rivers.

If there is a new capitol, we need to address the a few issues. One would be location. I'm not to big on putting a new capitol in the middle of the country. Also, the new capitol, needs to be a showcase of American power and prestige. It needs to be home to some of the best architecture, infrastructure and urban planning.

If anything, if there is a new capitol, why not do what Brazil did, and build a new one? The new capitol can have some of the world's best urban planners and architects, design a new city that is filled with grand boulevards, world class monuments, a state-of-the-art 21st century mass transit system, etc. That could be great. But, taxpayers would never foot that bill.
