I got to thinking, everyone was talking about where the new capital should be. I think Richmond would be perfect! Its nice and you can walk to most of the restaurants and stores and people here are friendlier than DC. Also we serve sweet tea in most all the restaurants, so people from further South would feel at home here.

But seriously if the capital is goign to be moved, Richmond is far too close to DC.... it would make sense to just leave it where it is in DC instead of moving it that short distance....

Just who is "everyone"? Out here in the wild west, I have never heard such talk. (Though we do like to keep the feds as far away as possible.)

Richmond is 100 miles to DC, so relatively close, yes, but its much more space down here. Also, we need some economic growth now that Circuit City went kaplooey.
How long would that extra space last if you moved the capital to Richmond lol?
Seriously if they ever did move the capital it would probably be somewhere more in the middle of the country. It would probably be a brand new planned city in a currently rural area.
I would think probably somewhere between the Ozarks and the Mississippi river would be nice.

That maybe true. But there's a whole lot of undeveloped land around the outskirts of Richmond, so it may take a while for it build up enough to get really congested. Right now its mainly the West End, and Midlothian areas. Plus you don't have to worry about that pesky Potomac River.
Not going to happen. Seriously, I have never heard any talk of this. The political ramifications alone would be tremendous. What would we do with the political entity, the District of Columbia? Would Richmond have to be removed from Virginia, and made into a federal district? Etc.

Richmond has a Federal Reserve Bank, so it already has government ties. However, it would be quite odd to have the White House and the White House of the Confederacy both in the same city.
