Phoenix does in fact have historically black churches, I used to go to one. The black population(percentage wise) in phoenix was greater in the 1940s than it is now. There are many black families in the area who have been here for years and people know of them by name. My grandfather who lived here back in the 40s used to speak of the black neighborhoods, schools, and eateries. It's interesting to me seeing as most people do not associate phoenix with black history(granted it's nothing compared to east coast cities).

The Black Church in Canada
Mt Zion COGIC is where New Orleans based pastor/gospel singer Paul S. Morton attended church, as the pastor on the historical page was his father. He grew up in Windsor and it isn't uncommon for Black people in Windsor to have family in Detroit and vice versa. His dad held services on both sides of the border.

I think Amherstburg also has or had a church as well. Chatham and Dresden also have churches as well.

While 19th century AA migration to Ontario was mostly to the Windsor-Chatham area (as well as some in Toronto and Hamilton), a trickle went further north towards Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe, to Owen Sound, Collingwood and Oro township near Barrie.

BME stands for British Methodist Episcopal. It is essentially a Canadian version of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, as the British was used as a way to show a Loyalist affiliation and in turn, preserve freedom and later, identity. A lot of people do not know this. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brit...iscopal_Church
