As far as random immigrants, Chicago is a massive Polish city. It's estimated there are around 1,100,000 eithnic Polish people in the metro area. Most of my friends are Polish or Eastern European as far as background. I'm not entirely sure how we ended up the largest Polish city in the world outside Poland itself, but it's a huge presence.

Chicago has lots of Polish, Ukranians, Serbians, Russians, Mexicans, Puerto Riccans, Indians, Pakistanis, and Philipinos.
