Can a person even be a Socially Conservative Dem? Fiscal, yes. Social, I think the title Democrat and Liberal are hand and hand socially. Just my opinion...

Oklahoma or Arkansas.

Both states are overwhelmingly Democratic......but also two of the most socially conservative states in the Union. A great balance if you ask me.

Social conservative and fiscal liberal = populist/statist/authoritarian, i.e. McCain/Palin.

Libertarian would be the exact opposite (social liberal, fiscal conservative) and would describe Houston, Austin, SA.

Okay, maybe I need to give some examples of exactly what I mean rather than just labeling things as socially coservative and fiscal liberal.

Taxes - I have no problem with taxes and giving my money to help fund issues that will beneift those in need or will beneift the majority, even if I am not a beneficiary.

Religion - I am a Chirstian, but respect others. I will not force my views on anyone else. Freedom of religion is one of the great things about our country, and I believe in the separation of Church and State.

War - I am not a fan of taking military action until it is a last resort. I am against the ongoing battles in Iraq and Afghanistan. I support our troops, but we should have never gone there in the first place.

Same Sex Relations - I respect a person's right to choose, but personally feel it is wrong, and certainly do not want a city that embraces the idea. It's one thing to prefer a man or woman, but some take their behavior to the extreme.

Abortion - I personally believe it is wrong, but also feel it is not the government's business to say whether a person can or cannot have one. It is a personal decision.

Morals - Above all else, I am concerned with people using common sense to do the right things. Not for religious purposes, not because you are an obsessed activist, but because it's right. Helping others, not spending money on lots of material things, if you have more than you need than give what you can to a cause or someone in need, and not acting greedy. Don't have sex before you are married, and don't cheat on your spouse. Don't get drunk or use drugs, they are stupid things to do and do no good for anyone. Don't cheat the government, don't harm someone else, and respect others even if you don't agree with them.

Please do not turn this into an argument on my views. I simply just wanted to give you an idea of my beliefs to better assist in suggesting a place for me to live.

Yep. Good description.

Populism = the historical precursor to full-blown fascism.
