California coast is what you're looking for...warm but not too hot or humid, greenery to the north of Santa Barbara, not cold...that is, it rarely dips below 40 degrees in winter. You will however get a lot of marine layer (fog) along the coast north of Santa Barbara, but most days it burns off by mid to late morning.

I like to follow these kinds of topics, but this thread seems to be about climate only, at least on the surface. But maybe it is not only the bad weather you are trying to get away from so much
Are you a freelancer and thus independent, do you have enough money for sought-after places, do you need cultural infrastructure, do you have a car, do you like diverse places, do you need an airport or railway station nearby to visit your family frequently, etc.? Those are questions which I think might play a big role when people are supposed to suggest places to you, especially in a huge and varied country like yours

I am mostly concerned about climate because here in NY I am freezing about 95% of the time. I like warm weather. My family is all here, but my mom is the same way I am and I bet would follow. Either way, as long as I can get home within 7 hours on a plane I am good to go. I am not self employed I would have to find a job. I own a car and a motorcycle, which is another reason why I want to get out of NY. I'd like to be able to ride more (I don't typically ride when its under 70-75 because I am too cold). I'd basically have to start over, so with this economy being the way it is, it might take a while. Thats why I am getting a head start in researching. I'd like to vacation to places that might be prospective places to live.
