Where is it pitch black by 8:00pm? In Indy the sunset is at around 9:15pm. Gary has it around 8:30pm. It's light out for at least 30 minutes after in each of those cities.

I don't think sunset in the longest days of summer is at 7:30pm anywhere in the country.

This was at 10:30 this evening. It was completely dark shortly after that.

In Boston it's pitch black by 4:30 in the deep winter, and not until about 9:30 in the height of summer. The swing of five hours is caused by how far North we are, but I think another interesting element is longitudinal position relative to the time zone. Being on the far eastern side of the timezone, we get an earlier sunset that everybody further west. It makes enough of a difference, that I wish we were on daylight time year round, because then it would at least still be twilight when I leave the office in December.
