Well considering the fact that a large amount of Texas population remains in those cities I just named. Texas is getting closer to becoming blue, and also with Texas probably being considered the most progressive state in the south, it just gives it more of a boost.

I know that Texas is a state that the republicans are now saying they have concerns about and the concerns are growing with each passing month. Still, conservative does not equal republican and democrat does not equal liberal.

I might make the argument that the big cities for the most part are liberal because of the black and mexican populations in them...not the white populations.

Therefore I would have to argue the most liberal cities are actually the college towns like Raleigh, Athens, Tallahassee, Gainesville and Austin.

For me being white, those big cities still seem conservative to moderate at best, definitely not liberal. The college towns are quite a bit more liberal imho, again, this is from a white point of view.

I am liberal and in the south I feel I get along better with ethnic groups rather than my white peers in the south, didn't feel this way living in other areas of the country.

Just because you vote democrat doesn't make you liberal, most dems in the south are conservative as the south used to vote so highly democrat.

In most other district in the u.s. outside the south, the democrats running for office would have to register as a republican to run on their platforms. They only run that way in the south to get the old conservative democrat votes, along with the black vote who both know the candidate AND just vote a D straight ticket.

I wasn't saying that either political party equals liberal/conservative...someone brought up blue and red as the reason for Texas being the most liberal state, and it needed to be pointed out that there are southern states more blue than Texas...and southern states more liberal than Texas.

Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida are the most liberal states in the Southeast.

I agree. I say Texas because it being a much bigger state and attracting people from all over the world and being considered easily the most diverse state in the south imo. So much culture is here for it to be labeled a republican state. When you look at how many people actually get out and vote in Texas, it is pretty low compared to other big states.

I'd have to go with North Carolina. The influx of so many northerners has changed the landscape. Still a great place and all, but not what it once was. I suppose that's true for many other states, but IMO NC is a bit more liberal that the others.
