Looked closer at those links -- WOW! It's amazing what a person misses by being in such a hurry! The interstates are nice but you miss out on SO MUCH! This is why when we took our trip last year we did it mostly on back highways and county roads. Much more to see! And at a pace where you can actually LOOK around!

I can empathize. I've felt the sting of a 60 mph raindrop and the chill of wet pantlegs. Takes the fun right out of the ride.

Again, I agree. The interstate is good if you are destination oriented and need t get somewhere quickly. But all the fun is on teh backroads. I tell folks up this way, "If you really want to see Maine, get the heck off the interstate!"
