I think about 9,000 black people live in NH.. AK and HI don't have much of a black population either.

Just give it to MD(1.4mill) and NJ(1.1mill) where the black population is up there.

Basically.....for New Hampshire, Alaska and Hawaii, most of the Black people in those states are either in the military or live in the biggest city/cities. I will say that Fairbanks, Alaska had a Black mayor:James C. Hayes: Biography from Answers.com and actually has a decent Black population of about 11%. It's a pretty diverse city as well. Again, that is due largely in part to the Army and Air Force Bases in that area.

So, if you were to look for Black people in those states in a concentrated area, for New Hampshire it's most likely Manchester, Nashua, Rochester and Portsmouth by the Naval Base and maybe Hanover where Dartmouth is located, Concord and the other college towns. For Alaska, I would go with the Anchorage and Fairbanks areas and the Army and Air Bases close by. For Hawaii, the Honolulu area and the military bases close by.

I'm actually surprised that Connecticut wasn't up there too.

Also, here's another good website to check out:http://www.blackdemographics.com/index.html

Maryland has Baltimore which is predominantly a African American city, Washington D.C. is sometimes called Maryland (people know the difference but people also know that D.C.'s land was carved out of MD so thats why they say it) and it is predominantly African American also, and Prince George County is the richest predominantly African American county in the nation, so of course Maryland should be the richest state (which it is), and the highest median black household income state!!! lol

Also, counties like Montgomery, Charles, Anne Arundel and Baltimore have quite a few communities where there are many Black middle class folks.
