i'd love to hear about any small town in any state. i've been everywhere from los angeles to where i am now, which is near providence rhode island. havn't found the place i would like to raise my son and miss the feel of a small town.

anything with decent school systems, not too high crime rate, and just everything small town. wouldn't argue a town not too far from a big city. im not a winter person but if everything else about the town is worth the cold, i'd like to hear about it. i am partial to the south.

May I suggest Plainfield,Indiana? Crime rate here is very low. Plainfield isnt exactly a small town( closing in on 27K people) but it definetly has that small town feel and character. People there are very friendly, cost of living is pretty affordable. Plainfield is about 30 minutes west of Indianapolis.
Plainfield does get cold but IMO it's definetly worth living there.

Here are a few websites to check out

Town Of Plainfield, IN

Plainfield's schools are nationally recognized for their excellence in technology and education. Plus Plainfield's schools have been continously rated 4 stars.

Since leaving San Diego, we lived in a small town called Willard, right outside of Springfield, Missouri, loved it. Population was like 3500. Total small town feel, high school football games was what you do on Friday night, 4th of July parade through town where anyone can enter and be a part of the parade, little kids would decorate their bikes and wagons, parents would decorate lawn mowers, tractors, horses to ride through the parade. Great small town.

Where we live now, outside of Roanoke in Botetourt County, is very similar and we love it!
