For New York there's West New York, NJ and the old town of East New York, part of the Borough of Brooklyn. Outside the Bronx is a village called Bronxville in Westchester County.

In New Jersey there are many instances, among others I'm sure:
Orange, East Orange, West Orange, South Orange
Englewood, Englewood Cliffs
Ridgefield, Ridgefield Park
Caldwell, West Caldwell, North Caldwell
Newark, East Newark
Rutherford, East Rutherford
New Brunswick, East Brunswick, North Brunswick, South Brunswick

And there are too many instances to name in which a borough is surrounded by a township by the same name. For example, Princeton Borough is surrounded by Princeton Township.

Not in Phoenix. In the Tucson area, you have a suburb named South Tucson. It's a 1 square mile, very poor community. The community is so poor that some of the street signs are made out of plywood.

In Des Moines, there used to be an East Des Moines but it was annexed by the city a long time ago I think.
