I cannot believe somebody would start an ENTIRE THREAD on Ft. Myers. Seriously? Ft. Myers exists to pick people up and take them to the AIRPORT.

MAYBE you could try to agrue Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville versus NYC, but FT. MYERS??????

I don't consider Ft. Myers, or Naples (where?), to be cities. They are just small towns.

Yeesh. I've been there a lot, and never once did it even enter the arena of thoughts as being "the best city in the country".

It's not. Why are we having this conversation?

Should I start a thread "Why is Fort Wayne the best city in the country?".

HAHA... awesome, something positive about Fort Myers on this forum for once.

Fort Myers is awesome, best part of FL..... big enough so you got everything you need, not so big that you have the huge traffic and other problems of Miami and Orlando....

No tolls, good roads, nice airport, good sports area (Go Blades!), good schools, nice beaches (lover's key... one of the few beaches in FL not overrun with crowds, Sanibel...like no other in FL, FT Myers Beach...nice FL beach town), nice infrastructure, great shopping centers (Gulf Coast+ Coconut Point), not overdeveloped and doesn't have the sprawl too bad, best boating place in Florida....

Fort Myers is a perfect size, not way overdeveloped and not too small.... my favorite part of FL, and FL is my favorite part of the country... so I gotta agree with the OP!

I just went there on vacation for the third year in a row (Free condo). It's kind of nice, but mostly a dilapidated Geezerville. The beach is okay, but not spectacular. Even new buildings look as if they are getting long in the tooth. I mean, given that there are literally thousands and thousands of foreclosed properties down there, the threat should be retitled "Why is Fort Myers the Best Place To Pick Up A Really Cheap Vacation Home in the U.S."

I have never met anybody who is from Ft Meyers or goes there. I have a lot of family come to the US from over-seas and never has anyone mentioned this cowtown of Ft Meyers. My guess is that the OP ate some really good acid or mushrooms before breakfast and then decided to post his/her trip on this forum. Somewhere along that trip, this person was so convinced that their cowtown was somehow more powerful than the greats and proceeded with this embarassing post. Days after sobering up the OP realized the post and dug their own grave in cowtown Ft Meyers...where he/she is still buried alive.

Could you possibly be any more arrogant and dismissive?

This explains a lot re: another forumers antics.
