Hello, I have been a Florida native my entire life.(28 years to be exact) I had to start a new thread because of my unusual weather needs. I can no longer live here with the low unemployment rate and the unbearable four summer seasons. I have never got used to the heat. I sweat constantly in the summer. 70 degrees is the perfect climate for me. Thats what I keep my apartment at. But even when I go outside to smoke I am beading sweat before I am done. I guess I am just hot natured and I love the cold. I have never seen snow, but I know I could handle a cold winter better than a hot summer. I like to dress in pants/boots and don't mind having to wear a jacket to go outside. I was currently looking at Minneapolis, but I read those winters are the coldest and then the summers are really hot and miserable. (like Florida) What gives? I want to relocate to a big city with an abundance jobs and mild winters and cool,cool summers. I need some suggestions. I cant seem to find a well rounded metropolitan area. Ive been reading the forums on this site for days and am just getting more confused. Enough ranting. Here is what I am looking for;
1) Major populated Metro area. I want the city life feel.
2) Great transportation systems.
3) Mild winters and cool summers. Keep in mind I HATE the heat.
4) Place I can walk around at 2am and have places to go and not get harassed by the cops.

Los Angeles and San Diego? I could've sworn Los Angeles had very hot summers.
Inland probably. I wouldn't think LA is hot to closer you are to the Ocean.
To the OP, I really don't think there is a perfect city out there for you with those choices. But the closest I can come to is San Francisco. Boston has mild Summers (can get humid but not nearly as what you will see in the South) but they can experience some bitter temps in the winter. I think the best bet is again San Francisco or maybe even Seattle.
Wow. Seems like SF is the spot to be. You have no idea how powerful your words are on city data. I did a couple long nights of research and I have to agree. Now I am gearing up to move to SF in the next month! Maybe I will see some of you out there. wheww, almost went to MN. The only factor that concerns me is the high rent. But you have to take the pros with the cons. I'm sure all the car repair,insurance and fuel money I save will balance every thing out. Right?
Good luck on your move and job hunting! I also live in Florida and hate it due to the lack of seasons. I have been living here on and off for family reasons, but now it's time to move. I'm fairly new to the site and have gotten some great ideas and think (!) I've narrowed it down to either Cary, NC or the Ashland, OR area. I'd LOVE to live in CA, but just can't afford it with my salary. The thought of moving to another coast scares me to death, but is also exciting. Best of luck!
