What, in your opinion, are the most image conscious cities in the US? Is there a place where you feel everyone is trying to make themselves a "cut above the rest"? Whether it be by wearing numerous designer labels, driving a luxury car, living in the trendy area, etc.

Also are you image conscious? Do you feel there is anything wrong with it?

Folks did seem very conscious in AZ as compared to NM.

Many believe they are conscious in NYC, but I didn't think it compared to other image conscious cities outside the States.

No, and yes, regarding my own consciousness--and nothing wrong with it if it is kept 'umble!

I'll have to say Dallas. So many plastic people are living in that area.

No, I am not image conscious. I prefer "real" people but if someone wants to be plastic and it makes them feel superior with expensive things, that's okay with me. I love to laugh, and I often do so when I see these people in action.

[quote=ontheroad;519427]Folks did seem very conscious in AZ as compared to NM.

Thats because most people in AZ is not natives. Theyre from other fashionable areas of the country and relocated to AZ. The REAL AZ lifestyle is cowboy boots, bolo ties, turquoise, etc(which is cool to me). Scottsdale and PV are just rich northern transplants who brought the lifestyle to AZ.

As for fashionable areas my vote goes to: Miami, NYC, SoCal, Las Vegas, Chicago. Im sure Im forgetting a million other cities/towns. Oh yeah, pretty much and rich suburb in any state.

Hey if some wants to be "plastic", so be it. As long as there not hurting anybody else let people do what they want to do without judging them!

1. Orange County, California
2. The rest of the LA area
3. Phoenix
4. Dallas
5. Las Vegas
6. Miami
7. New York
8. San Diego
9. Atlanta
10. DC

I myself am not particularly image-conscious. If others are, then so be it. If they're not harming anyone else and their image-seeking is a purely selfish endeavor where they are not treating those who don't fit into a certain image as inferior, then I have no problem with it. If they look down on others, then I have a problem.
