1) Flying over the great lakes is very cool, Detroit even looks nice from 35,000 feet. Flying into Chicago with it's spectacular skyline and lakeshore on Lake Michigan is breathtaking.

2) Flying into Seattle or over the Pacific Northwest is gorgeous, lots of snowcapped volcanic mountain peaks, the Cascade Range, green forests, and bodies of water to spot.

3) Flying over NY City at night and spotting all the lights of the east coast megalopolis is amazing!

I'm a bit of a geography dork too so I really dig the flights into Europe from the N. Atlantic, the ones that take you directly over southern England. The entire southern mass of that giant island looks exactly as it does on a map, if you can actually see it on a rare cloudless day.

I agree flying into Seattle is amazing. out of all the major cities in the lower 48 I would say it offers the most spectacular view from the air.
